Pacuare Lodge is indeed the most wonderful place I have ever been to. Rafting in makes the stay even more memorable and is a great way to meet the other visitors. The accommodation is just amazing, and is lit solely by candles! I went on the 6am bird-watching walk and was rewarded by seeing my first ever toucan.
I feel so privileged I have stayed at The Pacuare Lodge and will never forget my stay there. Thank you Fiona for organising everything so wonderfully - a great recommendation.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Fionas Blog. We were in Sri Lanka last month and had a fantastic and memorable trip. Yes there are troubles in the North of the country which everyone hopes gets resolved sooner rather than later BUT this is a very small part of the country. The Sri Lankan people rely heavily on the tourism industry and if tourists dont visit it will make the whole situation so much worse for the whole country. We felt safe at all times, far away from any trouble and the people were just so friendly and welcoming. I completely agree with Fiona that the food if fantastic!

We went to Costa Rica on a trip organised by Fiona in 2005 and it was the best holiday we have ever had.

Recommend especially the hot springs at Arenal and the cloud forest; the zip wire is awesome but not for the fainthearted.

We had a driver to take us between destinations which worked out well as some of the roads aren't great.

We “me and family” made a trip to Petra in Jordan in April 2007. it was a piece of art and fabulous.
We flew from Berlin to Amman- Jordan. We traveled at modern buses with a guide/driver.

Our route was Amman, Jerash, Ajloun , Petra , Dead Sea.

On the way we experienced architectural, archaeological, historical and cultural places: noble mosques, interesting museums, ancient castle, unique ruins, stone paths, the lowest point on earth with mineral salty water at Dead sea. Also we went to see how nomads live in their tents.
Before our trip we got a lot of warnings and surprising comments on Jordanians' hostility toward Westerners. Anyhow in every city, town and village we felt ourselves very welcome and every person was polite and hospitable to us.
