Flights to Cuba
All outbound flights are in the daytime, return flights are at night.
Cubana Airlines
Flights from London Gatwick are on a Saturday and Wednesday returning from Cuba late Friday or Tuesday night making a 6,9,10,13,16,17 or 20 night holiday. Outbound flights run directly to Cuba but stop at Holguin airport (southern part of the island) on the way. This flight is useful if you wish to visit the base of the island before going on to Havana. On the return journey the flight starts at Havana and goes directly into London Gatwick airport.
Flights from Nassau (Bahamas) to Havana are scheduled every day. Flights take 1 hour 30 mins.
Virgin Airlines
Outbound flights from London Gatwick on a Thursday or Sunday.
Air France
Air France flights depart from some regional airports including Southampton, Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Glasgow to Paris - please ask about additional airports.
Iberia
Iberia is the only airline that offers a daily service via Madrid, Spain, and has excellent connections from London, Birmingham and Manchester.
Transportation within Cuba
Transfers are the easiest way of getting around Cuba. Most tour operators offer three different types of transfers:
Seat in bus transfers
These are designed to keep the cost of your holiday to a minimum, and are pre-booked and paid for in the UK. The only drawback is that the bus will drop off and pick up guests from other hotels en route, which can make your journey longer. But it does mean you get time to take in the sights of Cuba.
Door-to-door transfers
These transfers are great but only operate if your journey starts from Havana. You will be picked up and taken to the domestic airport in Havana, fly to the island or place you are going, and met at the other end where you will be transferred to your hotel. The same applies when you return.
Private transfers
Private transfers can get you just about anywhere you would like to go but they can be quite expensive if there are only a couple of you. However, for larger parties there are mini-buses.
Car hire
The idea of driving in Cuba brings images of the magnificent 1950's Chevrolets that are common on the streets of Havana. They are great for trips around the town but not reliable for venturing out of Havana.
Hiring a car in Cuba is highly recommended, as it gives you the flexibility to see and discover Cuba at your leisure. Because of the popularity of car hire we recommend that you book car hire as soon as possible as they do run out of cars during peak holiday times.
Cars are hired for a minimum of two days, with the minimum age of the driver being 21 and having held a full driving licence for at least one year. Local charges that you will incur when you are there include insurance, deposit, drop off charges (if drop off is different from pick up) and an additional driver if required. The car is picked up with a full tank of petrol which is payable at the time of collection, there is no refund for returning with a full tank. Prices start from around £35 per day.
