Berenty and Fort Dauphin

A visit to Berenty Reserve gives the opportunity to get very close to several species of lemur. This is a very popular Reserve so we would suggest an overnight here so you can have a quieter time at dawn and dusk before the day-trippers arrive.

To the north west of Fort Dauphin, is one of the most southerly tropical forests in the world. The Andohahela National Park here is excellent for flora and fauna.

At Berenty you can get very close to several species of lemurs by simply walking in this forest. This is a fascinating experience that gives you the opportunity of seeing snakes (no poisonous species) parrots, eagles and other birds in their natural habitat.
