Enjoy the pleasures of golfing throughout Morocco, whatever your level of skills is, in fairways overlooking the sea, or in the greens at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. With a clear sky 360 days a year, Agadir and the Souss region have three golf courses and an immense choice of beach activities and places to discover. Marrakech, the destination for the jet-set and southern enchantment, acts as a "base camp" for playing its three golf courses.
There are no fewer than nine magnificent golf courses to enjoy while soaking up the imperial capitals of the Alaouite dynasty. And beaches are never far away. In the foothills of the Rif Mountains, the two golf courses which allow an exploration of Tangier, the pearl of the Strait, and Tétouan, the Arab-Andalusian city are classified as universal heritage by Unesco.
La Palmeraie Golf Club spreads over 77 hectares and has the prestigious snow-capped crests of the Atlas Mountains as a background & overlooks white medinas. There is a striking contrast between the desert on one side and its seven lakes & thousands of palm trees on the other. There are numerous white sand bunkers. The new course is used for tournaments in combination with the last nine which is more difficult than the first nine; it will feature four large lakes coming into play on six holes, but different tee boxes will make it playable by everybody.
The Marrakech Royal Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Morocco, it is constantly being renovated and improved and it also happens to be one of His Majesty King Hassan’s favourite courses. It is situated at the feet of the snow-covered Atlas Mountains and is embellished by a profusion of cypress, eucalyptus, palm, and olive, orange and apricot trees. It is an English style course with strategically placed bunkers protecting its greens and testing tall trees and palms. Winston Churchill, David Lloyd George and Ike Eisenhower have enjoyed playing here.
The Agadir Royal Golf Club is located 12Km from the centre of Agadir on the way to Ait Melloul. There is an informal clubhouse amid well-tended gardens with panoramic views. Wide fairways lined with pines, eucalyptus and mimosas. Large greens are well protected by deep bunkers and groups of palm trees. The splendid Par 5 3rd hole is noted for its length at 469 m and for its water hazard which makes your second shot very difficult to negotiate.
Why not combine a shopping trip to Marrakech with a spot of golfing at one of the best courses around
