Atlas Mountains

The Atlas Mountains are a mountain range across a northern stretch of Africa extending about 2,500 km (1,500 miles) through Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. The highest peak is the Toubkal Mountain, with an elevation of 4,167 metres in south western Morocco. The population of the Atlas Mountains are mainly Berbers.

The mountains have been home to a number of plants and animal species unique in Africa, often more like those of Europe; many of them are endangered and some have already gone extinct.

You can visit the Atlas Mountains as a day trip from Marrakech or stay for a few nights in one of the luxury Kasbahs and enjoy a trekking trip with lunch.

A visit to Morocco is not complete without a visit to the Atlas Mountains, whether it be a trek, a picnic lunch or simply to admire the stunning surroundings.
