Located in the heart of the wild Masoala Peninsula, Masoala Forest Lodge is just behind the beaches in a small clearing in the rainforest and perfect for those wanting to see and be amongst much wildlife. The accommodation is African ‘safari’ style tents on a wooden deck with a hammock for you to while away the afternoon.

The main communal area is made from local materials and blends effortlessly into the surroundings.

WEATHER

The weather in Masoala is a combination of sunshine and refreshing rainfall which keeps the forest revitalized all year round. Most of the rainfall can be found at the base of mountains and other areas receive less overall rainfall. The best time for travel is from April until November.

ACCOMMODATION

Masoala Forest Lodge has a maximum of 10 guests at a time with those guests enjoying the most luxurious stay set in the spectacular rainforest of Madagascar’s north east coast. Guests will enjoy a luxury stay in African safari style tents set in the forest that lines with the sea shore. These traditional Malagasy style tents each have a private en-suite bathroom with hot water. Where forest meets sea Masala Lodge is the place to relax surrounded by nature and sea.

WHAT TO DO

There are plenty of activities available to guests at the forest lodge. From kayaking, snorkeling and swimming to whale watching, fishing and guided forest walks. The Antalavia River is a great place for kayaking or swimming with refreshing pools of water overhung by lush forest green. Explore the forested mountain ranges and experience magical sunsets as you are guided through reefs, rivers and deserted beaches.

LOCATION

Masoala Forest Lodge is only accessible by foot or sea and is located is located close to the Masoala Peninsula National Park, the most biologically diverse national park in Madagascar.  Teeming with Flora & Fauna the wildlife is also pretty spectacular in this region with ten species of lemur including Red-ruffed lemur and the elusive Aye-aye Lemur found nearby.’
