Amman

"Amman is a divided city - busy, modern and bustling but you are never far away from an ancient and historic theatre, building, or artefact."

Amman, the capital city of Jordan, is one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the World. Built over seven hills, Amman has several ancient ruins and museums that are worth a visit. Highlights include the Citadel with a great view of the city, The Roman Theatre, Umayyad Palace and the National Archaeological Museum, which includes some of the Dead Sea Scrolls – the earliest known biblical texts ever discovered.

About 40 minutes from the airport, it is worth visiting for the atmosphere of its souks, bazaars and traditional coffee houses. The city offers both superb modern shopping malls and traditional stores.
