Sainte Marie

"With much of the island still ripe for exploring, I suggest hiring a bike or pirouge and losing yourselves for the day!"

Sainte Marie is a tropical island with beautiful, deserted beaches, coral reefs to explore, small villages and hills covered with thick vegetation. 200 years ago Sainte Marie was used by pirates as a hiding/resting place and they’d lay in wait for the cargo ships travelling from the Far East loaded with silks and spices.

There is a wonderful coral reef in Sainte Marie, several wrecks to be discovered and even a pirate’s graveyard! From July to September the Humpback whales come into the St Marie channel to mate and give birth.
